I run my own computers. On purpose.
I’m Jordan. I’ve spent way too many years in IT — enterprise ERP, cloud computing, cybersecurity, POS and billing systems – across eleven countries in the Asia-Pacific. I’ve held a CISSP since 2002, back when it meant something different than it does on LinkedIn today. These days I run an IT advisory practice and, in whatever hours are left, this site.
Sovereign-Computing.com exists because of a slow, expensive realisation: “convenience” is usually a subscription. I gave my data, my attention, and my spare cycles to companies who then politely locked the door from the outside. So I decided to take the door back.
This site is the working record of that. A homelab on TrueNAS and Proxmox. A local AI stack that doesn’t phone home. A trading bot that learned on Binance’s testnet before touching a cent of real money. Open-source software, cold showers for the cloud, and honest ledgers — when a build costs twenty dollars, I say so; when it fails, I say that too.
I’m not a Luddite. I use the cloud when it earns it. I just don’t trust it by default, and neither should you.
If you want the short version: own the hardware, own the data, read the terms of service.
