Cybersecurity Tips from a former Hacker

FB Posting on Oct 23rd 2022

Basically what I have been preaching as part of my Personal Crypto Wallet Security 101 tips…

a) Use a Password Manager

b) Create a custom easy-to-recall personal sentence/phrase at minimum >13 letters, replace key letters with symbols, capitals and numbers

c) Use a specific secured device (eg. preferably a laptop or tablet or a bootable linux on USB) and confine all confidential transactions and secure web surfing to it, do not use said device for typical normal usage or web surfing

d) Confine all secure/confidential transactions on safe browsers only (eg. like Brave, Firefox, not Chrome) on that said specific secured device

e) Use VPNs for added security as a mandatory option when outdoors on public networks

f) Must enable 2FA on ALL accounts, together with personal mobile devices, and especially with super secured authentication apps like Authy or Google Authentication, Microsoft Authentication, etc

g) Do not subject secured devices and/or confidential apps/files to work off public-facing or cloud apps (eg. DropBox) with public access rights (unless u really know WTH u are doing)

h) Always deploy adequate security AV or malware scanning/protection apps on secured devices at home or on mobile devices

i) Configure home network router properly and implement sound security policies onto router, WiFi networks and NAS devices eg. hide SSIDs (or not, if you are confident of your defences-in-depth), enable Mac address whitelisting, restrict remote admin rights, restrict internal IP address range & remote access via IP addresses, etc.
